If you run a saree shop, boutique or wedding-wear store, the cover you hand over with every saree is part of your brand. A good cotton saree cover protects the fabric, looks premium on the counter, and gets reused at home, so your shop name stays inside the customer wardrobe for years. This guide explains everything you should decide before you buy saree covers wholesale.
Why shops are moving from plastic to cotton covers
Plastic covers are thrown away after one use and do nothing for your brand. A reusable cotton cover is kept and used again, and it lets the saree breathe instead of trapping moisture. It also makes an ordinary purchase feel like a gift, which matters most for silk, bridal and festive sarees. If you want the full argument, read our post on switching from plastic to cotton packaging.
Step 1: Choose the closure
- Button closure: simple, light and economical. A good everyday choice for retail packing. See the cotton saree cover with button closure.
- Metal zipper: keeps dust out and feels more premium. A favourite for silk and bridal sarees. See the cover with metal zipper.
- Ribbon closure: the most elegant look, popular for festive gifting and wedding hampers. See the cover with ribbon closure. Ribbon colour customisation is available for orders of 1000 pieces.
You can compare all of them together in our saree covers collection.
Step 2: Choose the fabric
Plain cotton at around 260 GSM is soft, light and the most economical choice, ideal when you hand out hundreds of covers a month. Cotton canvas at 410 GSM is thicker and holds its shape, which suits expensive sarees and covers that customers will keep for years. GSM means grams per square metre: a higher number means a heavier, sturdier cloth. Our GSM guide explains the difference in detail. For a structured option, look at the cotton canvas saree cover with zip.
Step 3: Pick the size
A 16 x 14 inch cover fits most sarees folded in the usual way. The canvas cover is available in a slimmer 16 x 13 x 3 inch size with depth for thicker sarees and lehengas. If your sarees are heavier or you fold them differently, ask us about a custom size. Custom sizes are possible, and the minimum for a custom size generally starts at 200 pieces.
Step 4: Understand minimum order and pricing
Wholesale saree covers start from 100 pieces per design. As the quantity grows, the price per piece improves, so check the price slabs on each product page before you decide. A common approach for a new buyer is to start with one design in a first batch, see how customers react, and then reorder or add a second design. Our first bulk order guide walks through the process.
Step 5: Add your logo
A plain cover is useful, but a printed one is advertising that customers carry home. We offer three printing options: 1 colour screen printing, 2 colour screen printing and multi-colour DTF printing, on one side or both sides. Screen printing suits a simple logo or shop name; DTF suits detailed or multi-colour artwork. Read the full comparison in screen printing vs DTF and prepare your artwork using our logo preparation checklist. All options are on the custom branding page.
Step 6: Ask for a sample
If you are unsure about the feel or size, ask for a sample. Samples may be available on request, and sample and courier charges can apply depending on the product and delivery location.
