How to Choose a Cotton Bag Manufacturer in India

03 Nov 2026 · Care & Sustainability

Choosing the right cotton bag manufacturer saves money, avoids delays and protects your brand. A wrong choice means a poor print, the wrong fabric or a late delivery just before your season. This checklist covers what to ask and what to look for before you place a bulk order.

1. Ask what fabric and GSM they use

Do not accept a vague answer like good quality cotton. Ask for the fabric weight in GSM (grams per square metre). Around 250 to 260 GSM suits tote bags and saree covers; 410 GSM cotton canvas suits storage bags and structured covers. Two bags of the same size can feel completely different depending on GSM. Our GSM guide explains how to choose.

2. Check whether they are a manufacturer or a trader

A manufacturer controls cutting, stitching and printing under one roof, which means better quality control and more reliable timelines. A trader depends on other units and may not be able to fix problems quickly. Ethiwa manufactures in Siddhpur, Gujarat, and you can read why that matters in why we manufacture in-house.

3. Ask for samples

A serious supplier can share a sample so you can check the fabric, stitching, size and print before committing. Samples may be available on request, and sample and courier charges can apply depending on the product and your location. Paying for a sample is far cheaper than discovering a problem in a full batch.

4. Understand the minimum order quantity

Ask what the minimum is for the exact product you want. At Ethiwa, standard products start from 100 pieces, and custom sizes generally start from 200 pieces. A lower minimum lets you test the market, while price slabs reward larger quantities. Read how to decide your bulk quantity if you are not sure how many to order.

5. Compare printing options honestly

Make sure the supplier offers the printing method your logo needs. One and two colour logos suit screen printing; detailed multi-colour logos need DTF printing. We offer 1 colour screen printing, 2 colour screen printing and multi-colour DTF printing, on one side or both sides. Ask to see a printed example. See screen printing vs DTF for guidance.

6. Ask about customisation limits

Many buyers need a custom size, handle colour or closure. Ask what is possible and at what quantity. Handle colour customisation is available for selected bag types, and custom sizes are possible from a higher minimum. Getting this clear early avoids disappointment later.

7. Get clarity on timelines and delivery

Production time depends on the product, quantity and customisation, and customised orders usually need more time. A good supplier gives you an estimated timeline based on your order instead of a standard promise. Confirm that they deliver to your location; we deliver across India. Also ask who pays shipping, since charges depend on the order.

8. Read the return and damage policy

Customised bags cannot be returned once produced according to your approved requirements, which is standard in the industry. What matters is how a supplier handles damaged or incorrect products. At Ethiwa, if you receive a damaged or incorrect product you should contact our team within 2 days of delivery for assistance. Always check the policy in writing before you order.

9. Look at the product range and reviews

A supplier with a clear range and real customer reviews is easier to trust. Browse our full shop and read the reviews on each product page to see what other buyers say.
